I found CrossFit 10 years ago really out of desperation. I was a former swimmer who had essentially sworn off the idea of doing any sort of long form cardio for the rest of my life. After a couple of years out of college and a couple of lbs on the scale (shockingly, I wasn't adding pure muscle) - I knew that I needed to incorporate more cardiovascular work into my routine.  But the idea of long runs or hours on the treadmill honestly sounded like torture. I caught the 2013 Crossfit Games on ESPN one day and the gym I was already going to started running a couple CrossFit classes in the back, so I decided it was worth a shot. The competitive side of things immediately hooked me and the technical complexity of some of the new movements gave me long-term goals that I could sink my teeth into. About 6 months later I found my way over to Bison and the rest is history.

It's incredibly rewarding to get to help people learn new things and reach their goals, but I really love coaching because I feel like I'm closer to the entire gym. I'll be a 6 am'er till I die, but being able to connect with the afternoon crowd has led to friendships that I would never have otherwise, and I'm thankful for that.
