In second grade, I came home with a handout from school and begged my parents to let me play soccer. Eventually, my love for the sport had me playing year-round on club teams, boys’ teams and select teams. I played soccer and threw javelin for Kingsway Regional High School in southern NJ. While earning my B.S. in Biology, I played division III soccer at Ursinus College in PA. After college and a brief stint in pharma, I changed career paths and became a HS biology teacher where I taught Biology, AP Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. It was during this time that I became an assistant HS girls’ soccer coach and fell in love with coaching. Fast forward to leaving my job and giving birth to three kids, I started CrossFit after seeing limited results in the group classes I was taking; I wanted my pre-baby body back! My best friend urged me to try CrossFit around the time Bison was opening. I fell in love—with the intensity, the variation in daily workouts, the competition and the community. I feel fortunate that I am able to incorporate my love for coaching with my love of CrossFit. For me, the best part of coaching is seeing athletes do what they never thought possible and seeing them achieve goals they never thought they could attain.
